Ed Russell
From the art of selling to an innate understanding of color and design, Ed Russell’s career has added layer upon layer of experience to where he is today.
After graduating with a Business Management degree from Texas A&M, Ed moved to Houston and
began his career as a buyer for menswear and home furnishings at Foley’s Department Stores. From there, he moved to New York and became a buyer for Bloomingdales. Ed began traveling throughout Europe, absorbing the intricacies of textiles and weaves and exploring the world of color. While traveling through Europe, Ed developed a passion for Architecture and Design.
By the time he was approached by a high-end design firm and noted designer Billy W. Francis in New York, Ed realized he had an eye for color and design but his world of Interior Design was still relatively unexplored. He studied at the New York School of Interior Design so he could explore the technical aspects of the design business. After becoming a named partner of Francis Russell Design, Ed also had the opportunity to share his knowledge by teaching Interior Design courses at New York University. He participated in the prestigious New York Kips Bay Showhouse, The Southhampton Showhouse, the West Palm Beach Showhouse, the Montclair, NJ showhouse and the Pasadena, CA Showhouse.
Ed’s design firm, Ed Russell Designs was launched in 2007 serving clients throughout the U.S. with their residential design needs. This Houston based Interior Design firm is accomplished in a broad range of Interior Design styles and provides a complete range of Interior Design and the design of home furnishings that include furniture, lighting, rugs and carpets. Ed’s commissions include a long roster of projects. These projects range from apartments, houses, building lobbies, and a synagogue. Ed has continued to explore his passion for beauty and truth and had the opportunity to collaborate for several years with Larry Hokanson, one of the industry leaders in creating custom handmade, sophisticated, luxury rugs and carpets.
Ed is designing a Collection of luxury custom handmade rugs, which will preview in Spring 2018.
The San Antonio native now makes his home in Houston. In his off time, you will find Ed working and riding his horses, mountain biking with his son, hiking or playing tennis.
